A networking night to remember
HSBC wanted to hold a spectacular and memorable evening networking event at Sibos, which brings together thousands of members of the global financial community every year. The brief: to make the most of the Amsterdam location, promote HSBC and provide an engaging networking opportunity for clients and senior leaders.
HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, serving 40 million customers globally. They want to open up opportunities for customers and in 2022, have set up multi-billion pound funds to help SMEs and female entrepreneurs. They aim to achieve net zero carbon across their operations by 2030 and are asking suppliers to do the same.
HSBC are renowned for delivering a high quality evening event at Sibos. As the congress was being held ‘in person’ for the first time since 2019, attracting plenty of invited guests with busy agendas was key.
We needed a venue with the wow factor, which was within easy reach of the main congress site and showcased all that is best about Amsterdam. Guests will come and go at the many networking events throughout the congress, so creating a series of ‘entertainment moments’ throughout the evening would create a vibrant atmosphere and keep people engaged.
An evening of delicious food, music, live illustration and networking at the spectacular A’dam Tower. We chose the 16th floor loft space, which offered panoramic views over the city skyline and canals. The various spaces within the venue allowed us to punctuate the evening with specific ‘moments’, including mixologist demonstrations, a jazz and soul band and a DJ. An illustrator was there to capture highlights from the evening and annotate the windows of the venue with boats rowing along the canal, cyclists making their way home and traditional Amsterdam townhouses. Not only was this a great piece of entertainment, but it was also an important conversation starter for our guests.
Having briefed our illustrator in advance, we were able to use his style of artwork in the print items and branding for this event, including menus, event badges and décor. Our bright, contemporary and spacious venue also allowed us to give a subtle nod to HSBC’s branding throughout.
A six course walking dinner gave guests flexibility and the chance to try locally sourced, seasonal food and traditional snacks.
Our delegate experience and events teams ensured that everything ran smoothly, from pre-event communications, to the post-event journey back to the hotel. Our film team were also on hand to capture the highlights of the evening.
